Columbus DSA’s Brake Light Clinic Fundraiser for March 2019

Inspired by the success of last year’s Brake Light Clinic fundraiser show, Columbus DSA held another benefit concert on Saturday March 30th at Ace of Cups to raise money for the six Brake Light Clinics we have planned for 2019. The show was an absolute blast and we were able to raise over $2700 (including in-person and online donations)!

The event featured six great Columbus musical acts and three different DJs spinning a variety of records before and after and after sets. Throughout the night, DJ Cat Socks, DJ Neon Grey, and Justin Thunder Lager played an eclectic mix of awesome records and kept the party going strong.

The first band to take the stage was MIXED DEUCE, a group of Columbus scene veterans who kicked things off with a set that oozed 1970s American punk rock swagger.

Next was up-and-coming hip-hop phenom KALI DREAMER, whose masterful flow knocked the audience right off its feet.

RAW PONY hit the stage third and proceeded to pummel the crowd with an anthemic, post-riot grrrl garage punk onslaught. Ethereal, R&B-infused, beat-driven pop artist TTUM then took the stage, casting a spell on the audience as they watched her transformative performance.
After that, psychedelic doom rockers PALE GREY LORE tore through a set of heavy-yet-hooky dirges, dishing out haunting melodies and molten riffs in equal measure.
Finally, BRUJAS DEL SOL capped off the night with a searing slab of spacey, krautrock-infused psychedelia saturated with fiery guitar wizardry.
The benefit show was a ton of fun, and the funds we raised will help us to continue the agitational service we began last summer with our initial Brake Light Clinic. The first of our 2019 Brake Light Clinics will be held on Saturday May 18th at C.R.A.C.K. House Ministries in Linden. Additional BLCs are in the works for vulnerable neighborhoods around Columbus in the months of June, July, August, September and October.
